What is the legal definition of Denial?

In the legal context, Denial means A defense against a charge; a contradiction; a traverse. (When a defendant answers a plaintiff’s charges, he or she often denies them. Even if it is stated that the defendant has insufficient information to respond to a complaint, this will constitute a denial.)
